Mi investigación se centra en la exposición y efectos en salud de contaminantes ambientales, principalmente contaminación atmosférica. He dirigido proyectos de investigación con financiamiento de fondos concursables nacionales (FONIS, FONDECYT) e internacionales (NEWTON-PICARTE) en temas de efectos de contaminación atmosférica en salud respiratoria de niños, exposición y efectos en salud de contaminantes asociados al tráfico vehicular y efectos en salud de contaminación por quema residencial de leña en salud reproductiva.  Actualmente participo de los equipos de investigación de CECAN (Centro de Prevención y Control del Cáncer), donde investigamos sobre la carga de enfermedad de la contaminación atmosférica en Chile; y en SALURBAL (Salud Urbana en América Latina), donde estudiamos la distribución espacial de enfermedades y mortalidad en áreas urbanas de América Latina. Además, participo del Magister y Doctorado en Salud Pública, donde realizo diversas clases en temas de medio ambiente y epidemiología ambiental.
